I've been slowly trying to get away from DeviantArt over the past few months because I have been unhappy with the direction the staff has been taking it, what with the way some policies are carried out, where the developers are placing their priorities, and the general lack of quality that's taken to running rampant around the site. Thanks to a friend on Google+ I've finally found a site that I think will make a good replacement for DeviantArt once my subscription runs out. It's a site called Nabyn. It's still very new and in a closed beta so one can only register if they get an invitation from someone who's already a member.
There are a few things different from DA that I think are both good and bad. Nabyn only allows traditional and digital artwork. So no sculpture, photography, or writing on this site. In a way this is a good thing because, especially in the way of photography, that's what I see on DA that adds a lot to the quality problem. Yay! No more shitty myspace photos labeled as artwork!
But this also means that my tails can't be featured on Nabyn, and they're actually where I've been making all of my money as of late. DA and FA will work fine for uploading those though.
I still have a year on my DA subscription so there's no risk of having me disappear any time soon, but I sort of am looking forward to focusing more of my attention on my Nabyn account instead of here.
If you want to check it out and browse around for yourself, here's a link to my
Profile Page. I'm afraid I don't have any invites to give though, because I'm still somewhat new to the site myself. =/
